FINDING INFORMATION ON AVAILABILITY AND LOCATION

WHAT CAN LVZ OPAC DO?
- Locate books and serials by title, author, subject, publisher, ISBN/ISSN, IUJ Course ID, etc.
- Determine whether or not an item is available at the MLIC library.
ACCESSING LVZ
1. Visit Library top page.
2. Click on "Books (LVZ OPAC)", then choose either on "English Search" or "Japanese Search", and click the Search Option.

KEYWORD SEARCH
Searchable by not only items that contain the keyword(s) you typed in, but also adjacent items that may be relevant to your research.
Keyword Search is useful and effective when: you do not know the complete title or author of the book you are looking for, and you can search any word you know that describes your topic. Also you can search course reserve materials that you have registered by typing only the IUJ Course ID as keyword.
ADVANCED SEARCH
Searchable by word(s) in Title, Author, Publisher, ISBN/ISSN, Subject, IUJ Course ID, etc. The search will be retrieved by AND operator.
- Type the complete title or as much as you remember accurately from the title. Type in only the part of the title of which you are certain.
- Click on "search".
- Type the Complete name or as much as you remember of the author's name. .
- Click on "search".
- Type some simple words or phrases, or try various word combinations which are suitable for the subject you are looking for.
- Click on "search".
* Search Tip:
Example: Suppose you are doing some research on the topic of second language learning. You can try "language learning," "language acquisition," or "second language."
* Search Tip:
The subject terms used in library catalogs are precisely defined, and the search term you chose may not match the subject terms in the catalog.
- Type the IUJ Course ID from the header part of each search page. Please use "copy"(Ctrl+C) and "paste"(Ctrl+V) functions.
- Click on "search".
This search is useful for finding course reserve materials information. The current IUJ Course ID is provided on the header part of each search page. You can use a Course ID as one of the Keywords for every search option by using "copy" and "paste".
You can also check all information on required texts, books and materials for the courses by simply clicking [GSIR Courses][GSIM Courses] from the header part of each search page.
LVZ provides information on those materials' location and availablity at the library through the Web.
COMBINATION SEARCH
You can search by any search item entering keyword(s) of Title, Author, Publisher, ISBN/ISSN, Course ID using Boolean search operators*1 and Search Methods*2.

FINDING INFORMATION ON AVAILABILITY AND LOCATION
1. At the "Catalog Search Result" screen, Click the title of the item you are interested in.
2. The "Bibliography Information" Screen then appears, and you will see "MLIC Holdings" information as below at the bottom of the screen.

- "Material Type"
tells you what kind of items it is, Book, Reference, Journal, AV, Course Reserve, etc.
- "Location"
tells you in which library area the item is shelved.
General Stacks >> the item is one of the shelves of the General Stacks.
Reference >> the item is in the Reference Area.
New Arrivals >> the items is in the New Arrivals Area.
AV >> the item is in the AV Area.
Journals >> the item is in the Journals Area.
Counter>>the items is at the Circulation Counter.
Middle Eastern >> the items is in the Middle Eastern Area.
E-Biz >> the item is in the E-Business Area.
- "Status"
refers to the circulation status of the item.
Available >> the item is on the shelf.
On Loan >> the item is currently held by another user.
Missing >> the item is lost.
Discard >> the items has been discarded.
Being Cataloged >> the item is being kept in the MLIC office for cataloging.
Reserved >> the item is already reserved by another user.
If the item is "Available", you can locate it with its Call No. All Library books are arranged by Call Number on the bookshelf.
If the item is "On Loan", you may reserve it by ckicking the Reserve Box at the left corner of the screen.
Please understand that Reservation for course reserve materials is not Available.
